Health Safety & Wellness Policy

OBJECTIVES:
· Have our members and guests feel safe and secure in attending Milton Probus events.
· To create for members and guests at Milton Probus meetings & events, an environment, that minimizes risks from transmission of communicable illnesses & emergency situations
· To have procedures in place to be followed in the case of a health or safety emergency.
PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED BY MEMBERSHIP
HEALTH & WELLNESS:
DO NOT attend any Probus Meetings or Events:
1. if you are ill or feel ill or have a fever
2. if you have been in contact with someone ill with a communicable illness
3. if less than 3 days after returning from travel
4. if less than 3 days after exposure to ANY communicable disease
While proof of Covid vaccination is no longer required, members are encouraged to keep up-to-date on vaccinations.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY PROCCESS:
In the event of a Medical Emergency at a General Meeting the person to first realize the need for help must: Raise the alarm by notifying the person presiding at the meeting.
The presider will direct someone to:
· Call 911 immediately
· Notify Town of Milton Staff at the Customer Service desk (outside the meeting room door) and they will notify Operations & call 911 if not yet underway.
· Bring an Emergency Defibrillator to the scene if requested to do so by Town staff
· Meet Emergency personnel at building entrance to guide them to the location of the emergency.
· Accompany member to Hospital Emergency Department or to their home if required
· Contact the Emergency Person as provided to Membership Director.
Emergency Defibrillator:
The closest defibrillator is located across the hall from the meeting room, just around the corner from the men’s washrooms.
NOTE that
· All Town of Milton Operations/Maintenance staff are trained with the Defibrillators.
· An alarm will sound to alert Town staff if a defibrillator is removed from the wall.
FIRE EMERGENCY PROCESS:
In the event of a fire during the General Meeting the person to first realize a fire should: Raise the alarm by notifying the person presiding at the meeting.
The presider is to direct those at the meeting for someone to:
· Notify Town of Milton Staff at the Customer Service desk – who will notify staff situated throughout the building to provide direction.
· Use a fire extinguisher only if safe to do so and you have been trained.
· If directed by Town of Milton staff exit out the meeting room back doors (South side of room). Cross the parking lot and await further direction from Town staff.
· Leave coats and other belongings (not with you) behind.
